Two Butterflies & A Spider

Another +30 day called for a day at the annual Street Performer's Festival in Churchill Square. After a quiet morning, I was thrilled to receive a text from my cousin's wife Kelsay (also, my good friend), with an invite to the festival. She has three sweet littles- Jackson, Danica, and Cohen. So we packed up the car, made our way downtown in the sweltering heat, and lathered up with sunscreen upon arrival. The sun was blazing against the pavement, with not a breath of wind.

We were surprised how long the kids actually watched the street performers. They were so into it, smiling and clapping away, totally immersed in the local talent. It was cute and HOT, dang hot. So we cooled the littles down with ice-cream and a fountain dip. It was total mayhem in there, so we just got their little feet wet. Luckily, cooling off their little piggies seemed to satisfy them, and just the spray off the fountains kept the mama's happy.

I love this first pic I took with Instagram, totally captures the intense heat and contagious electricity. Those kids were going crazy in that water! Total summer mayhem. Today reminded me of summers in Edmonton when I was a kid. I'm dying to get the littles to Mill Creek Outdoor Pool in the ravine. The Epitome of summer for me! My mom took us there all the time while growing up, and we loved it. Gotta keep up the tradition. For the local readers, anyone else a Mill Creek Pool Lover?

Baby Besties:)

Thanks for a great day! We always have so much fun with you guys:) xo

This Moment

(This moment)- A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment of the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savour and remember.

Happy Friday. xo

Lil Bed Crasher

While Morgan was in the bath yesterday morning, cleaning off enough paint for a 60-foot mural, I let Cove happily play in her room. He loves Morgan's bed, and is delighted he can climb up onto it all by himself, but getting down is another story. He free falls most of the time, and ends up on his head on her technicolor rug. No tears, just a charming little smile of total bed crashing satisfaction. But you should see him snuggling into every pillow and blanket he can find, its just too cute. Instagram captured the lil bed crasher in motion.

Why I let her do this, is beyond me. I guess I know that play-school and every year after that will not allow this kind of 'creative freedom:)' So what the hec, go for it girl. The intensity in her eyes cracks me- crazy lil artist.

Toilet Monster

Covey has been obsessed with playing in the toilet. He opens and closes the lid and has finally learned not to get his fingers stuck. Its pretty yucky, so this mama has been keeping is sparkling clean. Well, as clean as you can keep a toilet. So...maybe I should get a lock for it or something...that will drive me crazy, but I can't keep him out of there! In the meantime, couldn't help but snap some pics to document his grody shenanigans. I just love my dirty little toilet monster.

We spent most of last week at the lake in +37 weather. So this mama is a little more bronzed than usual. I slathered the kids with Aveeno Baby SPF 55 (love baby sunscreen by the way, its gentler, with less chemical crap but still effective) from head to toe and still managed to tan. Gotta admit- love the summer glow. The weather has been blazing hot and this mama is not complaining. The littles have been handling it well, and I crave this heat all winter. Bring it on! Happy long summer days everyone, many more pics to come.

Birthday Party Sneaky Peaky

He's officially one:)...and I'm officially 31. We celebrated Cove's 1st birthday, and my 31st Birthday last July long weekend. It was a heap of energy pulling together two big birthday parties on the Saturday and Sunday, but worth the time, work and all the love that went into both.

Just escaping back out to the lake again to enjoy the hot weather this weekend, but couldn't help but post a few pics before leaving. For Cove's party, the boys rolled out 25-feet of commercial poly as a slip and slide!!! I don't know who had more fun, the grown men or the littles. It was such a riot, and I can't wait to post the rest of the hilarious pics.

This picture of Cove below- gahhh, he melts me. He was a very happy birthday munchkin. After a good morning nap, he was ready to rip it up with the rest of the lake littles. What a day, what a boy!

I love Ben's terrified arm in the background:)

My Vintage Tea Party

I loved my cake. I even had two pieces.
What the hell, its my party, I'll eat cake if I want to;)

Happy Birthday To Me

I'll be 31. 31-years old, on the 1st of July...31 is so much better than 21, I think. Instead of getting hussied up for a night at the bar with my girlfriends, I'm hosting a vintage tea party at the lake. That's what I love about your thirties. Your appreciation for life and your loved ones is on the forefront, and you actually have the taste and desire to plan some pretty special parties.

When I reflect back at 30, its been an incredible year. I had the honour of meeting my son, Cove. We spent our first year together, getting to know one another, cuddling, nursing, sleeping (not sleeping), watching him grow and reach new milestones every month. What a gift to have him in my life now. His face, I could kiss a trillion times, never mind those toes, knees and tummy. Morgan had a big year too, going through emotional, stubborn two's and adjusting to her new brother in the house, sharing mommy and daddy, especially mommy. But we made it, and it gets easier every day, thank God.

I gave birth to Cove here in our home 2-days before my 30th birthday. I spent my birthday in my housecoat, still sore, and recovering from pushing his 9-pound sweetness out of me. Together we celebrated, just my husband, brother in law and one of my best girlfriends, who brought a scrumptious tiramisu cake from the Italian Centre. Four friends, four forks, on the floor and darling chubby Cove. They toasted the new year in with me, with a farewell salute to my twenties. It rained, it poured, and then it rained some more, which never happens on July 1st, and always signifies change to me. It was a special birthday having my sweet boy sleeping next to me. Safe, healthy, such a blessing. But this year...a vintage tea party seemed very appropriate. This girl needs a party, quaint, but still a fabulous celebration. I've earned 31!

Below are a few images of my inspiration, but I will definitely post the actual pictures next week, very excited! I have a pretty little dress from Anthro I'm going to slip on with some vintage jewelry. I've requested that everyone come prepared with 'something from your past that know one knows about you'. Should be very interesting. Especially because all of my husband's aunts and grandma will be in attendance...:)

I kind of feel like a superhero all the time! Lately I've been running on my reserve tank...like everyday. Brydon has been working steady, so the kids and I have been lone ranging it a lot. I am still nursing Cove at least 3 times through the night. I know, I'm nuts. So I haven't had a full nights rest for 11-months! Lol, its so crazy, its kind of giddy funny. Must be the OVER tiredness.

I'm looking forward to a great party, with plenty of laughter and delicious eats. I wish all the important woman in my life could be there to join me in celebration, but many are living their dreams around the globe, so geography just isn't in our favour. Another reason I have created this space here. To stay connected, for an intimate glimpse into my life, the littles and our everyday shenanigans! So the ones that can make it are going to get spoiled! They deserve it. Everyone woman and good friend does, right! xo
