Stay Cool Man

Morgan made a 'campsite' this morning with blankets and pillows in the living room. She snuggled into it and pretended she was surrounded by ferocious crocodiles, singing "I'm the king of the sea, I'm the king of the sea." When she was eating her cut up nectarine, and bit the inside of mouth, she said, "Owe, I bit my nipple." I almost choked on my tea.

Cove spent the morning snooping around in the kitchen (Morgan's kitchen), until he slammed his fingers in the cupboard doors three times. He still hasn't quite figured that out yet. Poor bug. I am loving how snuggly he is, constantly nestling into me and every soft thing he can find. He's starting to take one or two steps on his own. Its too cute, but I'm not rushing him. I'm loving this age so much, I wouldn't mind if he stayed this way for a weeeeeeeee...eeeeee....eeeeeee longer.

My house is in shambles, as we still don't have our basement done and we are just too busy. Everything that should be downstairs is upstairs, so it feels like we're living in a shoebox of chaos (1st world shoebox of course) all the time. Hoping to finish up that bad boy by the fall- ha. Putting it out there anyways! In the mean time, I've been maintaining the controlled chaos up here, well, most days. Here are some recent photos of our domestic mayhem and summer fashion picks to fall in love with (can you believe its half over, sob sob). Happy Thursday. xo

Ombre hair- mermaid style- love.

We are outside all the time, mostly because its summer, but also to escape from our domestic mayhem inside (ok, mess) all the time. I think it keeps us all sane.

Just a little eye candy for you today. What a gorgeous summer shoe by Charlotte Russe, only...$45.50!!! Can you believe it, I can't. Gahhh, get on my tanned little tootsies please!

Ikea Shenanigans

This picture below cracks me up. During the 2-week heat wave, Kelsay and I took to kids to Ikea, hoping to soak in some air conditioning. The plan was to drop the littles off at the kiddy gym, while the mamas shopped. Seemed like a brilliant idea, but when we arrived, the centre was under construction, aka CLOSED.

So the seven of us cruised around (well, the kids more like sprinted. Yes, we were those moms), until we landed in the children's merchandise area, along with all the other mums and bubs. It was chaos- fabulous chaos, funny chaos.

Chompsmiles and Pink Houses

My yard has split personalities. One half is lush with grass and nurtured by the careful hands of my husband. Its a big green blanket for the kids toys, the sprinkler and there soft little tushies and knees. The other side- a baron dessert of dirt and stand alone weeds. Morgan often mistakes them for 'beautiful flowers'. We only got to sodding one side and now my husband has decided to seed the rest...ugh. But the kids are still so attracted to the dirt, and they've gotten to know the dry feel of earth in their tiny hands. So I guess this mama doesn't mind.

Nothing better than a big pot of homemade soup on the stove. This batch is packed with fresh dill, kale, parsley and tomatoes. You want to know my secret? Adding a jar of hot dog relish and a package of Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup, a little trick I learned from my 85-year old grandma- so easy and tastes freaking amazing...mmm, pickles in soup!

Her 'tower' needed a flag, so daddy made it happen with this little leaf.

At one point, Morgan stands up in a mad panic, hopping from foot to foot, screaming, "Ahhhh, CHOMPSMILES, CHOMPSMILES!"

Brydon and I are like, what the hec are Chompsmiles? So I make my way over to see her pointing at a piece of hair thats stuck in her pile of dirt. I said, "Morgan honey, its ok, thats just hair."

"No mommy, thats a scary CHOMPSMILE. I saw it with my own eyes."

He, he. Ok, its a Chompsmile.

She took off with this butterfly catcher like a bat out of hell...or a songbird out of...? Lol, anyways, the mommy paranoia in me was scared she was going to trip.

Swift and nimble, that girl. Thank goodness.

This girl is obsessed with PINK, and told me yesterday that she sad we don't live in a pink house. I told her when she grows up, she can paint her house all pink if her heart so desires. Maybe it would look like this...

or this...

or this, perhaps...:)

I'm a little surprised by how charming a pink house can be...I guess I'm not totally imposed. They can be pretty darn cute!

Lavender ice cream- the most refreshing summer treat
Fruit just tastes better when its cut into juicy stars.
Love this idea from Pinterest.

I recently got some really great news over something I had been worrying about for years. I wont bore you with the details, but I'm so thankful, as it instills my faith in what I know to be true. I'm thanking my lucky stars.

Have a wonderful week everyone! Who knows, maybe you'll come across some CHOMPSMILES, but hopefully they're not in your soup or margarita:) xo

ps. does anyone live in a pink house?

Meet My Mud Monkeys

Happy Saturday. If this is your first visit to Little Miss Cupcake Sugarpants, welcome! I'm so happy you've found us. And welcome back to all those who've been hanging out with the crazy Edwards crew for awhile.

This month we are proud to be sponsoring The Beetle Shack. If you've found us through Emily's beautiful space over there, I'd love to get you better acquainted with my wee nuggets-

As you can see, we've been busy playing in the mud. What is a summer without hot days spent making mud pies, mud everything really? One of my fav pastimes for sure. This is what happens when a quarter of your backyard hasn't been sodded yet. Ugh. Its an inevitable disaster, so instead of resisting the grody gong show, we embrace it. Bath time is also embraced- we give a whole new meaning to mud bath over here! Yesterday the kids were total mud monkeys, my mother-in-law would die;).

Funny how we have the desire to get our hands dirty. When you just let go and immerse your hands in that muddy mess, its delicious therapy. Once in awhile I indulge myself, but I'd rather take up gardening. xo
